The legal and Research Committee ordinarily sits 2 times per calendar year, however special meetings may be sanctioned as may be deemed of necessity by Council. 

The Committee shall be responsible for: –

• Interpretation of the law and subsequent statutes,
• Developing and amending policy instruments and other legal documents of Full Council,
• Recommending to full council, a legal firm to handle council matters where need arises.
• Dealing with litigation by or against Full Council,
• Handling disciplinary issues pertaining to the Full Council,
• Researching on legal developments that may have a bearing on the Full Council,
• Conducting hearings of all matters concerning appointed officials and determine disposition of such matters,
• Informing respondents, complainants and the public about action taken,
• Timeous reporting of all legal matters to the Executive Committee and when required to do so,
